“Life is like a turbulent river, big floods may come. If you don’t have enough strength, hold onto people who do. You should know that by yourself you cannot cross. Have confidence in those people who can support you and say, ‘Holding onto each other we can all go.’ Instead, we often say: ‘No, I don’t think I will be able to make it.’ You may not have even tried. Instead, reach out and say, ‘Hold me, I am slipping. Help me. Drag me out of this confusion. Give me courageous words. Help pull me out of this.’ That should be our attitude. That is the power of sangha, of spiritual community.”
