Dr. John Murphy IV, DO
Dr. John Murphy, IV, is an osteopathic family physician practicing in Dayton, Ohio. John completed his undergraduate degree at Case Western University, his medical degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and his residency in family medicine at Grandview Hospital. During the next twelve years, he worked in private practice, taught anatomy and pathophysiology to medical students, and precepted numerous students, interns, and residents. As a third-generation D.O., John strives to incorporate the osteopathic philosophy of treating the whole patient — mind, body, and spirit — into all patient care and integrate these teachings into his own life.
In 2020 John opened his new practice, Sugarcreek Direct Primary Care, which fuses the concepts of direct primary care, optimal healing environments, and integrative health care. At the practice farm, he offers primary care services as well as educational classes, including nutrition and culinary workshops, yoga and meditation courses, and nature journaling to encourage healthy lifestyles in patients. John’s goal is for this new concept of medical practice to become a blueprint for other communities, providing an alternative to the insurance-based healthcare model and affordable health care to all individuals.
Outside of work, John enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending time with his three daughters and his eighty-pound Bernese Mountain dog.
