Nirmala Habib, M.B.A., B.A.
Nirmala Habib is a seasoned marketer with over 20 years of experience marketing to multicultural audiences, specializing in the USA Hispanic market. Nirmala has held mid-level management positions at several entertainment companies including Showtime Networks, MTV Networks (both Viacom), Univision Communications and a mid-size advertising agency. These roles involved developing and implementing marketing strategies and plans to promote various entertainment brands, packages and specific TV programs/movies, mainly to Latinx, youth, LGBTQ and/or African-American audiences. Previously, as Brand Manager for the Kellogg Company in Bogotá, Colombia (where Nirmala grew up), she managed the children’s ready-to-eat cereal portfolio for Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador. In all these capacities, surveys—along with focus groups and other market research methodologies—were instrumental in helping the marketing team glean insights about customers and potential customers, as well as gaining a better, actionable understanding of clients, employees and competitors. Surveys proved especially useful with tasks like new product launches, spotting new trends, competitive and demographic analyses, customer satisfaction queries and website/app feedback.
Nirmala holds an M.B.A. from the Babson Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College. She is also a long-time Yoga teacher. She completed Basic TT in 2003, ITT in 2007, and many subsequent trainings including Stress Management TT, Trauma-Informed Yoga certification, Thai Yoga Massage training, and the 500-hour licensed Massage Therapy training at the New Beginnings School of Massage in Austin TX.
Nirmala has been happily retired from corporate America for 7 years. She currently works in property management, she teaches Gentle Yoga at Integral Yoga Institute of NY, works at the IYI shop/reception once a week, and does assorted volunteer projects/teaching in Stamford CT, where she currently lives. Nirmala greatly enjoys international travel, geopolitical discussions, hiking, the opera and ecstatic dance.
